Two Way Radio Case Study
Carnegie Harriers are a long-standing client of ours and organisers of the annual Devilla Forest 15km and 5km trail races. The client sought reliable communication solutions to ensure efficient marshal and first aid cover during this prestigious event. With the expansive forest setting presenting challenges for traditional communication methods, they needed a solution that offered seamless coverage across the event area.
The Devilla Forest’s vast and rugged terrain posed significant challenges for effective communication. Ensuring clear and continuous connectivity for marshals and first aid teams throughout the 15km and 5km trails was paramount. Handheld radios were not sufficient enough to cover the expansive area, leading to concerns about potential communication blackspots and delays in responding to emergencies.
Scotia Radio Services stepped in to provide a comprehensive solution tailored to Carnegie Harriers’ specific needs. Recognising the need for reliable coverage, Scotia Radio supplied Caltta handheld radios equipped with advanced features for optimal performance. To overcome the challenge of the forest’s rugged terrain, Scotia Radio implemented a repeater setup in the heart of Devilla Forest.
The repeater system, strategically positioned with a 60-meter pneumatic mast, ensured full coverage of the event area. This setup enabled seamless communication between marshals and first aid teams, enhancing safety and efficiency throughout the races.
Thanks to Scotia Radio’s dedicated support and innovative solution, Carnegie Harriers experienced a flawless event with enhanced communication capabilities. The Caltta handheld radios, coupled with the repeater setup, provided uninterrupted coverage across the entire trail race area.Â
