Two Way Radio Case Study
The Commonwealth Games Fanzone at Kelvingrove Park needed reliable two-way radio communications to connect production, security, stewarding, technical and management teams. The solution required clear audio, coverage across the operational area, departmental talk groups and robust equipment supported by an experienced communications partner.
The busy outdoor Live Site presented several communication challenges. Crowds, live entertainment, temporary structures and changing schedules meant teams needed to share information quickly while moving around the venue.
Mobile phones alone could not provide the immediate group communication required. Distance, structures and background noise also needed to be considered when planning the radio network.
We designed and supplied a two-way radio hire solution combining:
Departmental talk groups allowed teams to manage relevant communications while retaining the ability to coordinate with the wider event operation.
The Caltta radio network helped teams share programme updates, coordinate production activity and respond to operational requests quickly. Portable and fixed-position radios kept personnel connected across different roles and locations, supporting informed decisions and efficient teamwork.
By combining Caltta technology with Scotia Radio’s event communications expertise, the solution provided dependable communications behind the scenes while visitors enjoyed the sport, entertainment and atmosphere of the Commonwealth Games Fanzone.
