Two Way Radio Case Study
HebCelt 2026 needed dependable two-way radio communications to connect production, site management, security, stewarding and technical teams during the festival in Stornoway, from 15–18 July. The system required reliable coverage across operational areas, instant group communication and fixed radio points for event coordination.
The outdoor island setting presented challenges including changing weather, temporary infrastructure and personnel moving between different areas of the festival. Equipment needed to be robust, practical and straightforward to use.
Mobile phones alone were not ideal for fast-moving festival operations. Potential network congestion, call connection times and the limitations of individual calls made a dedicated group communications system important.
We supplied a two-way radio hire solution combining:
Scotia Radio’s radio hire and service expertise provided specialist support for the deployment.
The Caltta network helped festival teams coordinate activity, share operational information and respond to requests quickly, reducing reliance on individual mobile calls. Fixed radio positions supported oversight of site activity while handheld users remained connected on the move.
By combining Caltta technology with Scotia Radio’s event communications expertise, the solution supported the people working behind the scenes while audiences enjoyed HebCelt’s celebration of music, language and island culture.
